Overview
What is One-Health?
One Health is the recognition that the health of people, animals and ecosystems is a
single interdependent system. Antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic disease, food safety and
the health effects of environmental change cannot be understood — let alone managed
— from inside one discipline.
In practice the paradigm is easier to endorse than to apply. The data sits in different
institutions, under different rules, in different formats. The expertise sits in different
faculties. The computing capacity needed to analyse it together is rarely available to the
teams who need it most.
1HealthAI is built to remove those obstacles. It provides the computing, the governed data
environments and the regulatory support that let clinical, veterinary and environmental
researchers work on the same question at the same time.
The result is not only better science. It is evidence that arrives early enough, and in a
form transparent enough, to inform decisions taken by health services, regulators and
public authorities.
The 3 Health Pillars
Human, animal and environmental health
Three domains, one infrastructure. Each pillar has its own communities,
datasets and regulatory context — and each becomes more useful when connected to the
other two.
Human Health
Research and innovation that improve prevention, diagnosis and
personalised treatment, using protected clinical data under European rules.
- Earlier detection and risk stratification
- Personalised and preventive care pathways
- Responsible use of clinical and omics data
Animal Health
Veterinary surveillance, animal welfare and early detection of
zoonotic risk, supported by shared data and predictive models.
- Zoonotic and outbreak early warning
- Livestock welfare and productivity
- Antimicrobial resistance monitoring
Environmental Health
Ecosystem, biodiversity and environmental monitoring that reveal
the conditions behind emerging health risks.
- Water, soil and air quality intelligence
- Biodiversity and ecosystem indicators
- Climate-driven risk modelling
